A Hobby Center Arts Partner Performance
Through spoken word, newly commissioned music, and visual art, DECLARE illuminates the founding of our nation with a focus on civic identity, historical truths, and underrepresented narratives. Houston-based poets, composers, artists and students collaborate with Apollo to create a multidisciplinary concert that reflects the aspirations and complexities of America’s past and present – and promise for the future.

About This Hobby Center Arts Partner
Chamber Music America’s 2025 Ensemble of the Year, Houston-based Apollo Chamber Players is a “dynamic ensemble creating programs in response to current events” (NPR) that “recasts music for a diverse and multi-ethnic generation” (Strings Magazine). Apollo has performed at Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, and on APM’s Performance Today, commissioned over 60 multicultural works, and collaborated with renowned artists including Jennifer Higdon, John Corigliano, Jerod Tate, and George Takei. The ensemble’s albums, released on Grammy-winning Azica Records, and its debut feature film MoonShot have earned international acclaim. Founded in 2008 by violinist Matthew J. Detrick, Apollo also champions community engagement through projects like Library Voyage, a first-in-the-nation initiative to perform in all Houston area public libraries. apollochamberplayers.org
