A Hobby Center Arts Partner
The Texas Medical Center Orchestra returns to the Hobby Center to present their first concert of the 2025-2026 season.
Sounds of Nature & Color
The concert begins with the world premiere of Sonus Colorum by Jonathan Peters, a musical imagining of what colors would sound like if they could be heard. Following this, the orchestra will perform Concerto for Bass Trombone and Orchestra by Sterling Maffe, showcasing the remarkable talents of Ilan Morgenstern. His performance of the concerto is sure to captivate the audience with its emotional depth and technical skill.
The program will conclude with Symphony No. 2 “Romantic” by Howard Hanson, a lush, lyrical, and emotionally rich work that combines traditional symphonic form with a deeply American sensibility. Its soaring themes and glowing orchestration evoke a sense of nostalgia, grandeur, and heartfelt beauty.

About This Hobby Center Arts PartnerFounded in 2000, TMCO is one of the few community orchestras in the United States to be based in the medical community.
Each year, TMCO performs concerts in the Crain Garden Lobby of Houston Methodist Hospital and various locations within the Texas Medical Center as well as in premier concert halls in Houston.
